So they've arrived! With some fantastic help from my friend Mark, both bikes are now tucked up at home. Yes, I know what you're thinking - that garage is a mess. Leave me alone, we've just moved house, and everyone knows the garage is the first place to suffer. By the end of Sunday it will be sorted, transformed into a fully functioning bike workshop (that reminds me, I need to ask wife for a hydraulic platform to save my back).
After seeing the bikes I have to say I'm happy with my purchase. The KZ is just as expected - the bits that are broke or I don't like I had always planned on taking off anyway. The GPZ though has shocked me. Now I'm in two minds whether to break and sell as parts, or to put back on the road. There would be quite a bit of work getting it road worthy again, but it would make a nice little commuter allowing me to take my Fazer off the road and do some work on that (I have been wanting to get the blocks coated for the best part of a year).
Whatever I do, it's going to be a tough decision. Watch this space. If you are interested in buying a half decent GPZ, or need parts for it please get in touch - the sooner the better as you may help me make my decision.
Now to end on a sad note. On Saturday I took a little trip to our local biking haven with my brother. I invested in a much needed helmet - a Caberg Ego to be precise. What a fantastic helmet at a fantastic price. And then someone had to go and catch it with the bottom of a step ladder whilst he was making space for two new bikes in his garage. No prizes for guessing who that somebody is. It's only got a small scratch on the visor, but not impressed with myself after less than a week of buying it. What a tool!
