It's been a good 3 months since my last post, which suggests I haven't been doing much with the bike. That's sort of right and also sort of wrong. My last post told you that I had managed to get the bike working - great news. I come today to tell you the bike is in bits - better news. The bike is down to the frame now, it has been for a couple of months, and I've started work grinding off all the silly little tabs that are designed to hold plastics to the frame. The thing is, it's summer. So many nights have been spent sitting in the garden enjoying the sun rather than worming away to the workshop. And the other thing is, grinding tabs off is bloody slow work - I have to be conscious of the noise it makes, so no good grinding at 10pm. Plus, after a couple of tabs each time I get tired of sitting on the floor, it's not exactly comfortable. So yeah, I'm getting there. I reckon the frame will be painted before Christmas so it is making steady progress.
Another thing slowing it all down is owning another two bikes. I've had to do a major overhaul on the Fazer's front calipers as they started grabbing real bad - that's all sorted now though. The other bike? Amanda's little 125 - I've had various things to do to it, including swapping out the exhaust for a new one. Now it's only gone and gotten a rear puncture, so that is now my current priority before picking up the angle grinder again.
Here's a couple photos showing the strip down - it's a lot barer than that now though.
